Resultatorial Epidemic
Dictionary entry
Resultatorial Epidemic — An organisational contagion in which each achieved result spreads the need for further results, increasing exposure to Prematurework.
Feminine noun · Crestignacian organisational concept.
Original French term: Épidémie résultatoire
Pronunciation (French IPA): /e.pi.de.mi ʁe.zyl.ta.twaʁ/
Approximate pronunciation for English speakers: ay-pee-day-MEE ray-zul-ta-TWAR
Definition
An organisational phenomenon in which the emergence of an initial result does not directly generate further results, but instead triggers the spread of the need for subsequent results.
Mechanism of propagation
Result → temporary satisfaction → expectation → need for the next result → productive pressure → exposure to Prematurework.
The danger of a result does not lie solely in its achievement. Once obtained, it may set a precedent and create an expectation of continued productivity.
“A result does not create the next result: it creates the need for the next result.”
One team produces a result; another department observes it and may begin to expect comparable output. The need for results then spreads between teams, departments or organisations. Once this expectation becomes widespread, the phenomenon may reach epidemic proportions.
Resultatorial precautionary principle
“Every result must be considered potentially resultatorial until proven non-contagious.”
A resultatorial epidemic mechanically increases the risk of Prematurework by gradually turning an exceptional result into an expected result, and then into a production requirement.
Prevention
Prevention measures include:
- reinforced governance;
- Pointadatisme;
- impact analysis;
- Copilationnade;
- observation of potential results;
- stabilisation of action at Point A;
- maintenance of a sufficiently high Semantic Immobility Coefficient (SIC).
In the event of a major resultatorial outbreak, the Diapoké may serve as a documentary stabilisation mechanism: OK.
Systemic risk
At the level of a single organisation, propagation may lead to a generalised expectation of results. At an inter-organisational level, the model conceptually allows for a global resultatorial epidemic, in which results produced by some actors generate an increasing need for others to produce results of their own.
Translator's note
Resultatorial is deliberately coined to retain the original term's pseudo-scientific character and its notion of contagion, rather than reducing the concept to a simple “epidemic of results”.
